Royal Palace

Baroque palace was built in the XVIII century, between 1896-1903 it was extended by the plans of
Mr. Miklós Ybl  and
Mr. Alajos Hauszmann. Medieval and Renaissance remains of the palace from the XIII-XV centuries had been excavated.

 

 

 


Hungarian National Galery

It is the richest collection from the Hungarian art of painting and sculpture including about 100 000 works of art. Old Hungarian paintings from the XIX-XX century, sculptures, graphic and contemporary collections from the XIX-XX centuries are of overriding importance.

 

 


Fishermen’s Bastion

The new Fishermen’s Bastion was built between 1895-1902 on the former place of the old fortress, on the walls constructed in the XVIII centrury. The building never had a defensive purpose. Its seven towers simbolize the seven Hungarian Chieftains.


 

 



Margaret Bridge

Northern frontier of the World Heritage, the  Y-shaped Margaret Bridge was built between 1872-76 by Mr. Ernest Gouin and his partner. The bridge wing connecting the Island was built only in 1899-1900. It was the second permanent bridge over the Danube.

 



Margaret Island

We can walk in the most beautiful, protected park of Budapest, where you can see and find several rare, valuable and beautiful plants, historic monuments, sportingfacilities and beaches. 1,5 km² territory of Margaret Island was created on several smaller reefs.
